Mr. Jimyung Choi is a senior patent attorney in the litigation group of Shin & Kim, and his main practice areas are patent trial/litigation and patent evaluation/advisory in the electrical/electronic/complex fields.

After passing the patent attorney examination in 2001, Mr. Choi worked as a patent attorney for a patent firm and as an in-house counsel for a company. In particular, he was the first civilian to be appointed as a patent judge of the Korean Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board (IPTAB) and served as the presiding judge of the Intellectual Property Trial & Appeal Board. As corporate in-house counsel, he covered technologies for wired and wireless communications and electronic home appliances. At the Intellectual Property Trial and Appeal Board, he conducted patent trials on technologies such as semiconductor equipment and processes and autonomous driving.

Having experience as a patent attorney, an in-house counsel, and a patent judge, Mr. Choi has the advantage of having a multi-perspective grasp of intellectual property issues and providing fundamental solutions. In particular, he advises clients based on an in-depth understanding of the position of each institution in the field of intellectual property rights.

• Advised on and achieved patent monetization through technology transfer and patent sales of KT's proprietary technologies
• Advised on and achieved the licensing and standardization of a Korean mobile phone keyboard patent
• Advised on establishing a program to transfer KT's unused patents to small and medium-sized companies free of charge, contributing to the shared growth between large corporations and SMEs
