Jae-Ik Lee
Senior AdvisorIntroduction
Mr. Jae-Ik Lee is a senior advisor at Shin & Kim, with particular expertise in the defense industry.
After graduating from the Korea Military Academy in 1981, Mr. Lee served as an officer in the Finance Corps of the Army.
For over 36 years, Mr. Lee handled the establishment and management of the national defense budget and contract management. In 2008, Mr. Lee served as the CFO of the Korean Army’s finance department. Among his key accomplishments include leading the development of the national defense finance system, and the advancement and simplification of contract administration system.
In 2012, he established the Financial Management Corps by integrating the Finance & Accounting Corps of the Republic of Korea (“ROK”) Army, Navy and the Air Force, implementing one of the national defense reform initiatives. Mr. Lee also laid a foundation for integrated accounting standards and contract management standardization for the Army, Navy, and the Air Force.
Mr. Lee served as the longest-serving Director of Contract Management Division at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration. For over four years, he managed domestic and overseas weapons systems and general military supply contracts, which amounted to approximately KRW 10 million per year. Specifically, as Chairman of the Procurement Subcommittee of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration, Mr. Lee oversaw all contract-related disputes.
Since his retirement after 40 years of government service, Mr. Lee continues to give lectures on national defense management and ICT convergence in the defense sector as a visiting professor at the Kumoh National Institute of Technology. As an advisor at Shin & Kim, he is currently serving as a dispute resolution and consultant on contracts related to military suppliers, including domestic and foreign defense companies.
