Shin & Kim LLC (“Shin & Kim”) received the Best Cross-Border Award at the 23rd Korea IB Awards in recognition of its outstanding achievements in high-profile international transactions, including the IPO of LG Electronics’ India subsidiary and the establishment of a joint venture between Shinsegae and Alibaba. 
 
Shin & Kim served as the sole Korean legal counsel to LG Electronics in connection with the sale of existing shares as part of the IPO of its India subsidiary, providing comprehensive advice on Korean law matters. The transaction ranked among the largest IPOs in the history of the Indian stock market, recording the second-largest amount of subscription funds ever raised in India. The offering attracted subscription funds exceeding KRW 70 trillion and was valued at more than KRW 12 trillion at the offering price.

Throughout the listing process, Shin & Kim proactively identified Korean law issues arising in the course of the Indian IPO procedures. The firm delivered comprehensive and coordinated advice by analyzing and reconciling the differing public offering regulations and legal frameworks of Korea and India, contributing to the successful completion of this complex cross-border transaction. 
 
In addition, Shin & Kim served as legal counsel to Alibaba in connection with the establishment of a joint venture with Shinsegae. The firm advised on all aspects of the transaction, from structuring and negotiating the transaction documents to securing merger approval from the Korea Fair Trade Commission. As the transaction involved the formation of a domestic joint venture between leading e-commerce platform companies from Korea and abroad, it required extensive review of a broad range of complex legal issues. Shin & Kim delivered strategic and meticulous advice at each stage, contributing to the smooth and successful completion of the transaction.
