Legal Service to Korean companies in Russia

Shin & Kim announced on January 22, 2009 that it signed a memorandum of understanding with the Moscow Investment & Export Promotion Agency (“MIEPA”), an affiliate of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, regarding business cooperation. The MIEPA was established by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry to provide one-stop-service to foreign investors who are interested in doing business in Russia covering provision of legal consulting and information as regards Russian corporations.

Shin & Kim expects not only to provide high quality of legal service to companies which intend to make inroads into Russia but also to offer the comprehensive roadmap on the advance into Russia through the business alliance with the MIEPA through the conclusion of the MOU.

“Now, as an organization which stand for Moscow, the center of Russian political and economic culture that has more than 4,000 company members including Gazprom and other companies in the fields of resources and finance, MIEPA is playing a leading role among 169 other chambers of commerce in Russia,” our senior managing partner Doo-sik Kim said with an emphasis, “The close business alliance between Shin & Kim and MIEPA will be a meaningful attempt at providing legal advice as well as active information in Russia not only for companies ready to make inroads into Russia but also for those who have advanced into the country.”

“Many companies which are doing, or are ready to do, the business in Russia and CIS countries suffer from difficulties in their business because they fail to get legal information due to the frequent amendments of laws or the legislations of new laws,” Attorney Hyun-sik Shin, Russia & CIS Team leader, pointed out.  He added, “To prevent such difficulties, they have to get sufficient and good legal advice from specialists in the legal services regarding M&A, real estates, resource development, financial and trade transactions, corporate foundation, and operation in Russia and CIS countries before accessing to the markets.”
