Changhun Lee, a partner at Shin & Kim, was appointed as a member of the Korean Civil Code Amendment Committee by the Minister of Justice on April 21, 2014. The Korean Civil Code Amendment Committee is a committee established to adopt amendments to Articles 31 to 97 (Corporations) of the Korean Civil Code and is composed of six members who are prominent experts in the field, including Chul-Hong Yun, the president of the Korean Civil Law Society.
The Corporations sections of the Korean Civil Code constitute fundamental laws making up the backbone of the regulations applicable to corporations and incorporated foundations in Korea, as well as various types of associations including redevelopment and reconstruction associations, Jongjung (families of the same clan) associations, and churches. Together with the other five members of the Korean Civil Code Amendment Committee, Mr. Lee will contribute his knowledge and experience to the reform of numerous unreasonable restrictions that are imposed on corporations.
