Shin & Kim was named Korea’s “National Law Firm of the Year” for 2013 at the 2014 Chambers Asia-Pacific Awards for Excellence hosted by Chambers and Partners at JW Marriott Hotel, Hong Kong on February 17, 2014.
Shin & Kim was ranked the top law firm (Band 1) in the following five practice areas – (i) banking & finance, (ii) capital markets, (iii) corporate / M&A, (iv) dispute resolution (litigation) and (v) real estate (the only Korean law firm ranked as Band 1). In addition, 19 of our attorneys were recognized as “Leading Individuals” in their respective practice areas.
Chambers and Partners, the world’s leading legal publication, conducts surveys each year asking thousands of clients and lawyers to rate major law firms and lawyers on competence by practice area. Based on the survey, the law firm with the best performance and ratings in each region is selected as the law firm of the year for the region.
In 2013, Shin & Kim advised on several notably high profile deals and cases, including the issuance of USD 500 million green bonds by the Korea Exim Bank’s issuance of USD 500 million green bonds – the world’s first issuance of green bonds by a private / policy financial agency, Samsung C&T Corporation’s power plant project in Saudi Arabia, the stock swap deal between Korea Exchange Bank and Hana Financial Group, and the capital commitment case between creditors of Samsung Motors and the Samsung group (in progress).
Shin & Kim was chosen as the National Law Firm of the Year from among five major Korean law firms nominated for the award (Kim & Chang, Bae, Kim & Lee, Lee & Ko, Yulchon, and Shin & Kim).
